RedLigne womenswear collection is an athleisure product which glorifies sport sponsorship and kinetic speed. Largely drawing from spectator motor-racing apparel, its aggressive typography on synthetic fabric advertises clout and value in action. Style influences include 1980’s windbreaker jackets, color and composition by Barbara Kruger, costume design in the 1988 anime film Akira, general cyberpunk fashion, underground racing culture in Japan, and ambient lighting from Shinjuku nightlife locales. A RedLigne outfit conjures a world around it, one that is superfluous in technology and broken infrastructure; the wearer thus takes on the role of a navigator, so ruthless in improvising new paths that she is worth renown.
